877–345–4244Diagnostic imaging in Houston and Dickinson
Advantis MRI & Diagnostic Imaging provides outpatient imaging through three centers: Richmond Avenue, Walters Road and Dickinson. Our services include MRI, CT, X-ray and ultrasound, with specialized examinations arranged at the appropriate center. Patients can contact one scheduling team to discuss an order, location and appointment.
Our work supports the clinician who requested your examination. The visit begins with the correct study and preparation, continues with imaging and radiologist interpretation, and leads to a report for your care team. A doctor's order is required for every scan, including self-pay examinations.
Board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologists
Advantis describes its radiologists as board certified and fellowship trained, with subspecialty experience in body imaging, musculoskeletal radiology, neuroradiology and pediatric radiology. Radiologist interpretation connects the images with the question on your referral. Previous examinations and relevant clinical information can help provide context.
Your ordering clinician discusses the report with you and decides what it means for your care. Before your scan, ask how the report will be delivered and how to arrange that follow-up. If another provider needs the images, our records team can explain the transfer process.
Open and closed MRI options
Richmond Avenue has a 1.5T closed MRI scanner. Walters Road offers high-field open MRI, and Dickinson provides high-field MRI. The right choice depends on the ordered examination, safety screening and positioning needs. Tell scheduling if enclosed spaces or pain made a previous MRI difficult.
Our Open MRI pages explain examination-specific positioning at Walters Road. Dedicated breast and prostate MRI are arranged at Dickinson, while DTI is not booked on the Walters Road open scanner. Confirm the exact study and center before traveling. Dickinson MRI appointments are scheduled on Thursdays in the current booking information; call for current availability.
Imaging services for different clinical questions
MRI includes body-region examinations such as brain, spine and joint imaging. CT has its own examination and contrast protocols. Ultrasound preparation depends on the requested body region, and X-ray appointments must match the area and views on the order.
Our service directory also explains specialized imaging, including angiography, cardiac calcium scoring and other requested studies. A service listed in the directory does not mean it is performed on every scanner or at every location. Scheduling reviews the order so the appointment, preparation and equipment fit the examination.
Planning for comfort and assistance
Let us know before the appointment if you need help with mobility, positioning, communication or understanding your preparation instructions. For MRI, describe any enclosed-space concerns and provide the implant information the team requests. If lying still is difficult because of pain, explain that when arranging the visit.
Ask about transportation assistance and any arrangements for a companion before relying on them. If your clinician prescribes medication for anxiety, discuss the instructions and any driver requirements in advance. The first-visit checklist helps you organize documents and questions before arrival.
Insurance, self-pay and financing
Patients can ask for an examination-specific estimate and discuss insurance or self-pay arrangements with scheduling. Have the current order available so the quoted study matches the appointment. Ask whether contrast, radiologist interpretation or other charges are included and whether a revised order would change the estimate.
Insurance participation, authorization and patient responsibility depend on the individual plan and examination. Confirm these details with both the office and your insurer. Advantis also provides information about CareCredit financing. Our costs and insurance page explains what to ask before accepting an appointment.
Patients, clinicians and referral partners
Advantis works with patients and referring clinicians as well as personal injury professionals, schools and clubs. Referring offices can coordinate the imaging order, previous examinations and report delivery. Personal injury and workers' compensation arrangements need case-specific confirmation before the appointment.
For a student or athlete, the treating clinician determines the appropriate examination and any return-to-activity decision. Families and coordinators can ask about scheduling and documentation through the appropriate channels. See our information for physicians, attorneys and schools and clubs.
