Imaging Costs, Insurance & Financing
Discuss your order, insurance or self-pay arrangements with our team before your appointment.
Ask for an examination-specific estimate
Have the full study name and contrast instructions available. Ask whether the estimate includes the scan and radiologist interpretation, whether any fees are billed separately, and when payment is due. Contact scheduling for current self-pay pricing.
CT and ultrasound estimates
For CT, specify the body region and whether oral or injected contrast is part of the order. For ultrasound, give the full examination name; abdominal, pelvic and vascular studies can involve different arrangements. Ask for the quoted total, what is excluded, whether interpretation is separate and how long the estimate remains valid. Contact the office for current prices before scheduling.
Using insurance
Confirm network status with both the office and your insurer for the plan you hold. Ask about authorization, referral requirements, deductible and coinsurance. Authorization does not guarantee coverage or the final amount due.
Out-of-network benefits vary by plan. Ask your insurer whether your scan is eligible and what you would pay.
Self-pay and financing
Ask the office about self-pay arrangements for your exact examination. Advantis links to CareCredit for financing information; eligibility and financing terms are determined by the provider.

Compare the same body region, contrast instructions and included services. Keep the written estimate and ask who to contact if you have a billing question.
How to compare MRI estimatesA checklist for your pricing call
- The full examination name, body region and side on the order.
- Whether contrast or more than one examination is requested.
- Your preferred center and any scanner requirement.
- Whether you are using insurance or asking for a self-pay estimate.
- Whether the total includes the radiologist’s report and any additional fees.
- When payment is due, how long the quote remains valid and who handles billing questions.
Keep the written estimate with your appointment details. Ask the office to explain any difference between a quoted package and the examination your doctor actually ordered.
When an estimate needs to be updated
A change to the body region, contrast plan or number of studies can affect the appointment and its cost. Changing the facility may also affect insurance arrangements. Tell scheduling when the referring clinician updates an order and ask for the revised estimate before proceeding. If you receive a bill you do not understand, have the date of service and examination details available when contacting the billing team.
